Juntos Por El mundo… Cambiamos Vidas

Welcome everyone to our first PeruForYou Newsletter. This newsletter is to keep everyone who´s involved or who has ever volunteered with Volunteering Peru in the past updated with our program.

The last year has been quite eventful with major progress happening with our primary school St Augustin. We have renovated the school and made it a esthetically and a beautiful place for the street children to learn.

We have implemented many competitions for the children to participate in. This has created both an excellent experience for our children to interact with one another in a friendly and most importantly fun environment.

We have successfully handed out more than 5000 tooth brushes to the young children of Huancayo. As you are all aware dental problems are very serious here amongst our young ones and this step towards educating them with good oral hygiene practice is a major break through for us.  Thank you to all those volunteers who donated tooth brushes, you know who you are and we appreciate your donations greatly.

Thanks to the program many people in the jungle are able to receive medicines they previously could not afford. We have also provided funds for the people to be able to build bungalows for tourists to lodge in. As you all know this is a great source of income and the social benefits are just as valuable as the financial ones. SELF WORTH IS ONE OF THE GREATEST GIFTS WE CAN GIVE.

We have formed a single mothers group who come together three times a week. These mothers knit, crochet and sew clothing as a small way to receive income. But the true benefit is creating the intention to makes their lives better and also to form a supportive social group that each one can depend on.

Thanks to all those who have donated gifts, but also those who took Spanish lessons, a part of your payment went directly to our children’s ¨Christmas Day Festivities¨. From all your donations we were able to give a gift and clothes to each child. The day was a huge success and the smile on their faces was priceless.

We are currently running a new program for under privileged children aged between 10-22 to learn Basic, Intermediate and Advanced English.

This course involves grammar, vocabulary and a strong focus on conversational English. This course is designed to provide the children of Huancayo a chance to be able to follow a career in teaching, tourism and commercial trade.

This is an amazing opportunity for these children and providing such a valuable skill gives a glimmer of hope to change these kids bleak future.

We have a new exciting addition to our program and that is we are now selling Genuine Hand Crafted Items made specifically by the street kids of Huancayo. These items are hand crafted by the children and all products sold will be going directly back to them.
This is very exciting for us and especially the children and if you are interested in any of the products below please don’t hesitate to contact us. This is a great opportunity for the children to work toward a better future.
